The brief introduction of cloud computing goes as follows..:-
DEFINITION:
Cloud computing is internet-based computing, whereby shared resources, software and information are provided to computers and other devices on-demand, like a public utility.
HISTORY:
The underlying concept of cloud computing dates back to 1960,when john mccarthy proposed that "computation may someday be organized as a public utility"; indeed it shares characteristics with that date back to the 1960s. The actual term "cloud" borrows from telephone network in that telecommunications companies, who until the 1990s primarily offered dedicated point-to-point data circuits, began offering virtual private network(VPN) services with comparable quality of service but at a much lower cost. By switching traffic to balance utilization as they saw fit they were able to utilise their overall network bandwidth more effectively.
ARCHITECTURE:
Cloud architecture is the system architecture of the software systems involved in the delivery of cloud computing, typically involves multiple cloud components communicating with each other over API'S .This resembles that of UNIX which is capable handling multiple programs where each program runs over the interfaces that is been allocated. Complexity is controlled and the resulting systems can be efficiently managed.
KEY FEATURES:
- AGILITY:It allows users to share and retrieve the information rapidly and in-expensively.
- DEVICE AND LOCATION INDEPENDENCE:It allow users to access the system from anywhere with the help of any browser and by using any device(e.g:pc,mobile).They can also access through internet regardless of ISP's(Internet Service Provider).
Today we can have a cloud computing of capacity ranging upto 35 zetabytes.but there are methods that are being carried out to increse the capacity.
There is no doubt that,cloud computing will cover the vast area of computing,but more researches and technologies are required for enhancement.
